Results of the Pion Beta Experiment

The results of the 1993 beam time are explained in detail in the PSI Newsletter 1993. Here are only some additional figures.

The first figure is a comparison between simulation and experiment for 30 MeV/c positrons incident on a cluster of 12 CsI modules. Photoelectron statistics and light collection nonuniformity were taken into account in the simulation:

The same comparison at 50 MeV/c:

and 70 MeV/c. The low energy peak in the last figure corresponds to muon contamination of the positron beam:
