2.2 Conserved vector current hypothesis
The process of pion beta decay ( p + -> p 0
e+ n ) is very similar to that of nuclear beta decay (e.g.
O19 -> e- F19). The coupling
strength, however, is different for the two types of processes. An explanation
for this is given by the conserved vector current hypothesis (CVC).
