ADC Weighting Exponent

The values of the ADC weighting exponent tex2html_wrap_inline5466 and tex2html_wrap_inline5468 have been determined by optimizing the average angular resolution tex2html_wrap_inline3432 of both the NaI and CsI detectors. Using the GEANT code to simulate the box spectrum of 55-83 MeV photons from the single charge exchange reaction tex2html_wrap_inline4804, the average angular resolution tex2html_wrap_inline3432 has been minimized with respect to tex2html_wrap_inline5466 and tex2html_wrap_inline5468. The plots of tex2html_wrap_inline3432 against tex2html_wrap_inline5462 are shown in Fig. 5.1 for the CsI and NaI detectors. The cut imposed on these measurements requires that the sum of the energies deposited into the ``inner'' (See Chapter 2) detectors of each array exceed 50 MeV.

Figure 5.1: Angular resolution plotted against the ADC weighting exponent tex2html_wrap_inline5462 for CsI and NaI, with angle of incidence corrections.

From Fig. 5.1, it is clear that the optimal values for the weighting exponents are tex2html_wrap_inline5512, and tex2html_wrap_inline5514.
